CBK Approves Amendment to the Regulation on the Implementation of the Bonus-Malus System

CBK Approves Amendment to the Regulation on the Implementation of the Bonus-Malus System

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) announces that it has approved the amendment and supplementation of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Bonus-Malus System in the insurance sector, regarding mandatory motor third-party liability insurance, in accordance with its legal authorizations.

The amendment of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Bonus-Malus System has addressed the issue of applying a lower bonus level in cases of delayed vehicle registration, which previously required the insured to pay a higher insurance premium, even though no traffic accident had been reported.

The amended Regulation was approved at the CBK Board meeting held on June 25, 2025, and will enter into effect on August 4, 2025, in order to provide the necessary time for technical implementation within the information system administered by the Kosovo Insurance Bureau, in accordance with legal competencies. The revised Regulation can be found at the following link: Amendment and Supplementation of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Bonus-Malus System on the CBK’s official website.

As part of the review process of this regulation, official communication with the Ombudsperson has also been taken into consideration.

In line with its constitutional and legal mandate, the CBK remains committed and engaged in the continuous improvement of the legal framework, in order to fulfill its mandate, including the development of a sustainable and efficient insurance sector that ensures the protection of policyholders.
